Artist's Statement
There is a store of visual delights awaiting every day. Some fleeting, a passing figure, a shaft of light or a momentary glimpse. Others are diligently recorded, noted and filed. Some make it onto canvas or paper, some baffle, frustrate and challenge my capabilities and vision. Others emerge with ease. A rare few meet all my expectations reinvigorating the passion and drive to stick at it.
Making art occupies much of my life and provides me with great satisfaction, that it can convey something to others is a genuine source of happiness. In teaching this same joy and reverence comes whilst sharing the challenge of depicting our beautiful world.
Having been painting for over 40 years my preferred mediums are oil and pastels. Depicting faithful realistic works of varied subjects, drawing inspiration from local and familiar themes.
Teaching, workshops and demonstrating form much of my practice.
Curatorial skills gained after 13 years as a gallerist are still relied upon by local artists and organisations.
